Outreach aimed at exposing as many diverse segments of the local community to ballet as possible is one of the core goals of the CYB. To that end, excerpts from our productions will be performed at various community venues and events including book readings and demonstrations at public libraries and senior living centers, Festival in the Park, Charlotte Dance Festival, the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens Bug Ball, the Southern Christmas Show, and the Stowe Botanical Gardens Holiday Lights event. To further broaden our audience’s exposure to the performing art, CYB recently collaborated with the Charlotte Children's Choir as they performed during intermissions of "Coppélia" in the Spring of 2011.
CYB productions are created with children in mind: they are lively and colorful, incorporate a large number of children cast members, and their story lines are familiar. The central location of the Halton Theatre with bus access as well as free parking makes it a convenient venue. Low cost seating in an elegant setting makes the production attractive to all ages and to those from all socio-economic backgrounds.
