Since 1981, Charlotte Youth Ballet has enriched the cultural life of the Charlotte community through professional-quality ballet productions featuring both local student dancers and internationally acclaimed professional artists. What began with the debut of The Nutcracker has grown into one of the region’s premier youth ballet companies and a cherished holiday tradition for generations of families.

As a nonprofit organization, Charlotte Youth Ballet is committed to making ballet accessible to all — both onstage and in the audience. We believe every child should have the opportunity to experience the beauty, discipline, and inspiration of the performing arts, regardless of financial circumstances.

Through the generosity of our supporters, CYB is able to:

  • Provide complimentary performances for 500+ Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) Title I students each year, helping remove barriers such as cost, transportation, and limited access to the performing arts

  • Host educational and community outreach events, including a Behind the Curtain experience in which local Girl Scout troops earn a badge

  • Offer discounted tickets for public and private school field trips, homeschool groups, preschool children, and seniors

  • Keep ticket prices and participation fees affordable for families

  • Preserve and enhance the artistry of our productions through costumes, sets, props, and theater operations grown into one of the region’s premier youth ballet companies and a cherished holiday tradition for generations of families.
